Diet & Power outage

　I talked to and promised with Jay to lose weight each other by end of thsi year. He will lose 60lb( 27kg), 220lb, which is his weight when he was professional baseball player. I have to lose 40lb (18kg), 180lb, which is weight when I played basketball in college. let's get down!

At dinner, Jay told me there was big power outage from South OC to AZ and Mexico as well. ( We ordered salad bar!)

Almost 6 million people were knocked out.  News announced "Two nuclear reactors were offline after losing electricity, but officials said there was no danger to the public or workers." Is it true???

I have never been surprised at power outage since I moved to U.S in 2004 because I had many experience of power outage here. It's completely different from its in Japan.  Very often and long time once it happen. But it looks like serious problem,  6 million people, 5 hours, under pre hot day and night.

2-3 years ago, we had a big power outage in office and then I called Edison which was electric company like KANDEN in Japan.  I was told "We don't know when it is coming back!" and then hung up on me....I was surprised at their attitude more than big power outage.  This is CS level here.

みなさん、忙しく、ほんの１時間半だけでしたが、話題は多岐にわたり、実は藤村さんと松下さんには、多くの共通の知人がいるということもわかりました。
広いようで狭いオレンジカウンティの日本人社会です。

ここで独立してがんばろうとすると、まわりの方のちょっとした一言が、励みになり、モチベーションアップにつながります。

いい仲間のネットワークが広がり、私自身もがんばろうという気になるいい一日でした。

Break time

Just stopped by REDONDO BEACH by myself before picking my son up.

Unfotunately I couldn't go to beach like last year. Just break time now...

Redondo Beachはいつ来ても、日本のように混んでおらず、好きなビーチのひとつです。
今年は忙しくて、あまりビーチにいけませんでした。忙しくてもしっかり時間を作り、バランスを保たなければいけないと反省した一日でした。

TAKOYAKI PARTY （たこやきパーティー）

We had "TAKOYAKI PARTY' with my friends , The Pachecos & The Isaksens,.

It seemed that it was first time for them to see how to cook and have Takoyaki.

Recently, I saw many Takoyaki stall at grocery store. Not only in Japanese but also, especially , in Korean. One day I found price, "$3 for four pcs"!!

 A lot fun!  Can't eat octopus, Interested in how to make ball shape, Pickled ginger was accepted, Too hot to eat...

My Mom in law brought Takoyaki grill from Japan last month so that we could have party. Thanks Mom!

In every country there are different food culture so I will introduce Japanese food culture to others and want to know other country's food culture. This is one of way to know each other country's culture.

Training at NORITZ

I had a training of tankless water heater named level "0" which was for beginners @Noritz HQ. It was awesome! I had been working for Noritz for over twenty years but it was good to know about Noritz and Products.

Recently, most of manufacture focus on advertisemrnt to increase their brand power but I think most of people in market doesn't know "What is benefit of tankless". Installer can't explain about it exactly. So industry should enhance to train market about basic information again and then advertise company name and image on magazine/TV and radio.

So I liked this level's training. I believe installer wants to know not only troubleshooting and installation but also sales talk and marketing. because installer is one who tall to customer directly!

まだまだマーケットは給湯器の良さは知らないと思う。なぜ給湯器を買ったほうがいいのかj本当の意味でわかっていない、知らない。それを知らせ、ブランドイメージを強化する宣伝広告をしなければいけないと思う。

MUSASHINOBORI in US

Recently, I had a meeting with my American friends about wooden tag called “MUSASHINOBORI”.  He liked it as a gift from me and as a novelty as well. However, he has expressed reluctance about the price as cost I gave him.

It is hard to make American understand artisan craftsmanship as Japanese traditional culture. I know it will take time for me to share such a mentality. I know it’s tough, need innovation but I know there is chance there as well.

DANTHREE LLC

このブログを読まれる方はDANTHREEという名前はご存知かと思いますが、とうとうその名前で会社を設立してしまいました。名前の由来はまた後日。

DANTHREEは「日本・アメリカでがんばっている、がんばりたい方々を応援するサイト」を運営します。

私は給湯器メーカーのノーリツで20年以上お世話になり、そのうち2年は専従で労働組合の中央執行委員長を勤めさせていただきました。労働組合の執行委員になろうと思った理由が「人を繋ぐ」ということでした。

工学部出身ということもあり、ノーリツでの新人での配属は明石の研究所でした。その後、商品の企画、市場導入を行う、東京にある開発部という部門に異動しました。その両部門で感じたことが「研究所の人は一生懸命商品の開発をしている。営業の人は一生懸命それを売ろうとしている。同じ会社で一生懸命働いている人たちなのに、なぜかお互いの悪口を言う。これは会社としてパワーの損失だ。これを直すにはどうしたらいいか？」と考えました。

会社の風土を変えるには社長になるのが一番と思いましたが、それはいつのことになるのかわかりません。そこで思いついたのが比較的構成員の年齢が若い労働組合に入り、委員長を目指そうということでした。結局6年かかったのですが委員長になり、いろいろな仕組みつくりを行いました。

もともと、人と人を繋ぎ、新しいことを作るということは、もともと好きだったのだと思います。

応援するサイトなのに、すでに応援してくれている方々が、日本、アメリカに多くいます。

ホームページもTwitterも始めました。「いつかは」と思っていたブログもはじめました。

日本での35年間と生活と、アメリカでの8年間のビジネスおよび生活を通じて得たノウハウがあります。特にアメリカでは一般企業で必要とされる全部門の業務を行ってきました。これらのノウハウ、ネットワークを活用し、がんばる会社・人を応援するお役立ちサイトを構築したいと思います。

最初なので、かなり堅い文章ですが、これから楽しくやっていきます。
